Jobs and Internships

We’re always looking for keen plant lovers who share our passion for working in a public garden.

It’s not just another day at the Plant

Although garden work can be dirty, cold, hot, wet, windy, and exhausting, most of us don’t consider what we do as work, since we’d probably be doing the same thing at our own homes. We are obsessive about plants, gardens, people, and the natural world. We’ve got an incredible group of hard-working, fast-paced, intensely passionate, inquisitive folks, who love to teach and share. Our staff comes from a wide range of backgrounds; some grew up in nature, while others got into gardening after breaking free of confined office careers. We promise you’ll learn more about plants and what goes on behind the scenes of a garden than you ever dreamed possible.

No matter your background, if you’re one of those special people who are looking to find your tribe, we hope you’ll consider joining our amazing team. We hire both full-time and part-time staff.

Internships

Live and work in the middle of one of the worlds’ largest plant collections

Student Internships are also available, as we have space. Our alumni list of interns include directors and other key staff at some of America’s top botanic gardens and institutions. Intern housing is available on-site if the rooms are not already occupied. How many people get the chance to live and work in the middle of one of the worlds’ largest plant collections!

If you are currently enrolled in a horticultural program at an accredited institution, please contact your department head about internship opportunities. To inquire about JLBG internship details, please fill out the form below.
